Our Worship Service
Follow the link above to see a typical complete church bulletin showing all of the details of the church service. I would like to point out a couple things we may do differently than other churches.
1. Holy Communion - All are invited to receive Holy Communion. If you don’t feel comfortable receiving the bread and the wine just come to the railing and fold your arms across your chest and Pastor will give you a blessing. For those who wish to avoid consuming alcohol the clear liquid in the center ring of the communion wine tray is grape juice. Also if you have difficulty kneeling at the communion rail please feel free to stand.
2. When to Stand - The bulletin doesn’t explicitly note when to stand but when it is time to stand Pastor will always announce “Please stand if you are able”.
3. Hymns - All hymns are printed in the bulletin so you don’t have to keep switching back and forth from the bulletin to the Hymnal. Occasionally, due to copyright issues we will not have permission to reprint the hymn in our bulletin. When this happens the bulletin will you refer you to the hymnal.
4. The Apostles Creed - We use the modern version.
5. The Lord’s Prayer - We use the traditional version.
6. Praise Reports - A unique feature of our service is that right after the Apostles Creed we have the “Praise Reports”. This is where the Pastor hands the microphone to volunteers in the audience to report on how the Lord has blessed them in the last week. We all find this portion of the service uplifting.
7. Sharing of the Peace - Since Covid we have done away with shaking hands for sharing of the peace and now flash the peace symbol to all while establishing eye contact. This is working well.
8. Dismissal - The dismissal at the end is always announced by Eddie.
9. Music - Music during the service is provided by a digital organ that sounds like a real pipe organ. The pipe organ you see in our church has been retired since the maintenance costs became prohibitive. We have a Yamaha Clavinova in the sanctuary which sees use when we have guest musicians.
